Green Mile by Stephen King (30-100)

John Coffey was brought to the mile by guard who was two times shorter than him. His name is Percy. On the way to the Block he was yelling that that man will be executed. No one besides him ever said it and Paul and other guards started saying how nice it would be if he just shut's up forever. Every writer is the stealer, and here I found theft because it is so simmilar to John Stenbeck's of Mice and Men. It was awfully simmilar in Green Mile when Curley started to hate Lennie since the first day. Lennie is not very bright guy same as John Coffey. Percy and Curly are simmilar and even have names that sounds sneaky enough to understand that they are two guys with nothing about themsleves but a lot of connections they have some connections that can keep them somehow alive. Other prisoners introduced in the green mile. By the way Paul has problems with his urination because it's 1930's and medicine are far behind of what it was even in 1960's. He has great pain when uses a bathroom and it becomes such a big deal, so everyone on the mile knows it. Back to mice and men. Chapter 7 and 8 is all around a small mouse. They never saw mouses on the block and for Paul it was like an another prisoner. Interesting thing is that mouse gives comfort to everyone. It gave comfort to Lennie one of the prisoners and even to Paul himself. Why does mouse give comfort? Human can fell power over it and understand that it's so easy for him to kill it? So far all I mostly thought about was the idea of watching a film and comparing it to the book at the same time.
Quote:
"Percy gave him a look that was narrow-eyed and a touch uncertain"(King 76)
Reaction:
I don't really know why, but those cliched conflicts between a little weak guy and a big silly guy seem a little bit depp to me. Why man always want's control over someone, especially someone who is much stronger. Will be a proof of something? Power? Bravery? What??? Human nature- how strange and interesting you are... Even a look can be an idea to write a book. Nice job Stephen King- you write good hooks to keep reader online.
